Rose I. Magel, 86, of Sioux City, was called home by Our heavenly Father from this earthly sight on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 after a long illness. A graveside service will be 10:00 AM, Monday, July 13, 2015 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 6605 Morningside Ave. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Rose Ilene Hunwardsen was born on April 18, 1929 in Sioux City, IA and except for a brief time in Oregon was a lifelong resident. On June 20, 1947, she married Leo N. Magel and together they had 3 children: Daniel, Susan and Thomas.

Rose was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where over many devoted years she was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Mr. and Mrs. Club, a choir member, a Keys for Kids volunteer and a Stephen's Minister.

Having excellent office skills, Rose pursued a career as an administrative assistant and word processing professional. She also volunteered as a librarian at the Smith School library at its inception. She became an expert on Fibromyalgia when she herself developed the disease and taught classes for other sufferers through the St. Luke's organization. She was both a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader and throughout her entire life, an inspirational example of faith, strength, kindness and love.

Survivors include her son Thomas and his significant other Mona, daughter Susan Magel Dunsworth, 3 grandchildren: Brent Dunsworth and his husband Ben, Justin Dunsworth and his wife Kristyn and their daughter Ellie and Andrea Dunsworth.

Rose was preceded in death by Leo, her husband of 37 years, her eldest son, Daniel, her sister, Lorraine Nesnidal and niece Jolaine Nesnidal.
