Ronald "Ron" Wensel, 77, of Sioux City, passed away peacefully, following a long, courageous battle with cancer on Monday, May 4, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. A light meal will follow at the funeral home.
Ron was born on October 28, 1937 in Vermillion, South Dakota, the son of Jess and Magnola (Landers) Wensel. He graduated from Elk Point High School and then enlisted into the United States Army.
Ron married Beverly (Monroe) Jasman on September 4, 1981 in Elk Point, South Dakota. He worked at many car dealerships over the years, and was the manager at Lincoln Mercury in Sioux City for many of them. Upon retirement, Ron drove the shuttle for St. Luke's Hospital. Ron loved the outdoors, everything from fishing and camping to watching the squirrels and birds.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly, sons: Jeff Jasman of Sioux City, Greg (Stacie) Jasman of Syracus, Utah, Andy (Tyla) Jasman of Sioux City, Troy (Emily) Jasman of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, and Todd (Susie Q) Jasman of Ralston, Nebraska, daughter Lynne (David) Mothershead of Sioux City, 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a great granddaughter due in August, brother Ollie (Vina) Wensel of Aurora, Colorado, brother-in-law Bob (Shirley) Monroe of Sioux City, sisters-in-law Betty Ann Beckler of Golden, Missouri and Bernie Benjamin of South Sioux City, Nebraska.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Glen, Leonard, and Floyd Wensel.
