Ronald Russell Jorgensen, 85, of Sergeant Bluff, IA, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025, in South Sioux City, NE. A graveside service at Graceland Park Cemetery will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Ron was born on November 27, 1939, in Storm Lake, IA to Chester and Ida (Patten) Jorgensen. He went to school in Sergeant Bluff, IA and enlisted into the United States Air Force, where he served from 1957-1959. He started driving semi at the age of 19. He married June Hammond in 1958; to this union they had 3 sons. He later moved to Fortine, MT from 1964-1981 where he worked as a logger. Ron then lived in Alaska from 1981-1982 and then Iowa, Nebraska, and Green Valley, AZ later in life. He worked for multiple trucking companies and was a hard worker. He loved to make people laugh with his jokes and sense of humor. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and grandkids.
Those left to honor his memory include his sons: Marvin Jorgensen and Rob (Svea) Jorgensen, both of Fortine, MT; nephew, Rod (Courtney) Haverdink; his sisters: Ruth Driver, Kansas City, MO, Nancy Spink, Kansas City, MO, Mary (Don) Furrer, Olathe, KS; grandchildren: Justin Jorgensen, Kristin Butler, Dustin (Marie) Jorgensen, Ashley Jorgensen, Brittany (Andrew) Derrow; and Klair Sam; and multiple great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son; Ernest "Ernie" Jorgensen, brothers: Garland "Rocky" and Gordon Jorgensen; sisters: Gwenith Mann, Betty Selecta, and Clara Peck.
The family would like to thank Ron's nephew, Rod Haverdink for the care he provided him the past 5 years of his life.
