Ronald "Ronnie" Lee Kurth

Ronald Lee “Ronnie” Kurth, 65, of Sergeant Bluff, IA passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 6, 2025. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 14 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Ronnie was born May 16, 1960 in Danbury, Iowa, the son of Ray and Mary Kurth of Mapleton, Iowa. He was a 1978 graduate of Sergeant Bluff-Luton High School. Ronnie married Jacqueline Pinard of Sergeant Bluff on July 27, 1985, celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary this year. The couple spent several years in Colorado before returning back home to Sergeant Bluff. They had two children while living in Colorado, son Colton Lee and daughter Carlee Jo. Ronnie studied heating and air conditioning at a Colorado trade school and worked as a facilities manager at the Sheraton Hotel chain. He retired in 2020 from WestRock Corrugating in Sioux City, IA.

Ronnie was known for his quick wit and handyman abilities. He also liked working in the garage on everyone’s cars. Ronnie was quite the cook; cooking Thanksgiving dinners using mom’s traditional recipes. A couple specialties were his ribs and chicken wings. He loved spending time with family. We all have fond memories of attending the Iowa State Fair in August of 2023, and his daughter’s wedding in Tennessee in October 2024.

He is survived by his wife Jacqueline Kurth, children Colton Kurth and Carlee (Jacob) Cowan, sister Terri (Phil) Shatter, brothers Chuck (Conchita) Kurth and Mark Kurth, his granddaughters; Nora Elaine and Lila Jo Cowan, and many nieces and nephews.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Duane) Peterson and his father, Ray (Carol) Kurth.
