Obituary

Ronald E. Paulson, 85 of Sioux City, died Monday, June 29, 2015 at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Services will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Riverside Lutheran Church with Rev. Tim Squier officiating. Burial will be in the Beresford Cemetery, Beresford, South Dakota. Visitation 4-8 pm Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Ron was born on November 11, 1929 in Union County, South Dakota, the son of Lee and Agnes (Jacobs) Paulson.

On September 6, 1951, Ron was united in marriage to DonnaMae Ronan at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford. Ron enlisted in the Marines during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge they moved to Alcester and farmed from 1954 until the spring of 1956, when they moved to Sioux City.

Ron worked at North American Machine, Concrete Pipe and later for Fashion Floors as a carpet layer. He then was a sub-contractor and then independent contractor laying carpet and tile. Ron also helped his wife DonnaMae with her ceramics and crafts. Ron liked woodworking and he was a craftsman, who could fix most anything. Using those skills, in later life he worked at PBX in maintenance.

Ron was a member of the Riverside Lutheran Church, where he was active and helped with any maintenance issues, and he was also active with the Neighborhood Watch program. Ron was also a member of the Engineers Club in Sioux City.

Ron is survived by his son, Greg Paulson of Storm Lake; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildrern; one brother, Russell Paulson of Alcester, South Dakota and one sister, Joyce McShane of Battle Creek, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife DonnaMae in 2006, his daughter Barbara Hayden in 2009, and one brother, Roger Paulson.
