Ronald "Ronnie" E. Denning, 76, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away July 26, 2025. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 1 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial with military honors will be in Graceland Park Cemetery.

Ronnie Denning was born on September 26, 1948, in Sioux City, Iowa to Everett and Peggy Denning. He received his high school diploma in 1969 and was drafted into the United States Army in 1968, where he served until, he was honorably discharged. He proudly served in the Vietnam War. During his service, he was wounded and received the Purple Heart.

Ronnie was united in marriage to Patsy Freese-Mahnke on October 15, 1988. He retired from the City of Sioux City in 2015. Ronnie had a passion for music and loved playing the drums. In the early seventies the Silver Strings was formed, and they played in many bars six nights a week.  They were inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Music Association Hall of Fame in 2008. Ronnie also played in the Rustin Band.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughters: Kelly Navrkal (Jim), Tasha Pointer (Matt), Kristie Denning, Sabrinna Chartier (Dustin), Tonya Schmitz, son, Joshua Mahnke (Amber); 10 grandchildren, Zach Kee, Faith Zeigler, Seth Pointer, Abby Escobedo, Jadyn Chartier, Jackson Schmitz, Dominic Schmitz, Ethan Mahnke, Andrew Mahnke, Dylan Mahnke; great grandchildren, Elliyanah Escobedo and baby Grace Zeigler on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patsy Denning; sister, Nancy Fredrichksen; and infant daughter, Rachael Ann Denning.
