Ron was born May 29, 1941, in a Riverside, Sioux City home, to the late Lloyd and Bertilla Derochie. He was the second oldest of 13 children. He married Vivian Fargo on July 17, 1961. Together, they raised four children to love the Lord.

Ron was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He built two of the family’s homes and loved gardening, working in his yard, traveling, cooking and watching wildlife from his porch.

Ron’s favorite childhood memory was spending time on the Bernard family farm near Jefferson, SD. In his early young adult years, he worked at the John Morrell packing plant and later elected his union’s president. Ron served as the president of the United Food & Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) Local 1142 for 23 years, until Jan. 1, 2004. Upon retirement, he was recognized for his high standards in trade union principles.

Ron is preceded in death by his mother, father, sister Joanie Brown and brother Kenny Derochie, brother-in-law Herman Johnson, and beloved granddaughter, Tanisha Andersen.

Ron is survived by his loving wife and children, Kellie (Roger) Bashioum, Kerry (Stacey) Derochie, Korey (Angel) Derochie and Kathy (Craig) Rohloff; siblings Karen Johnson, Connie (John) Mogensen, Larry (Paula) Derochie, Cindy (Allen) Burns, Linda (Glenn) Schumacher, Donnie (Barb) Derochie, Pam (Kenny) Beller, Jeanie (David) Boisen, Teri (Tim) Hasler and Jeff (Diana) Derochie; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
