Romelda M. Thompson, 86 of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at a local hospital.

Funeral service will be held 10:30am Saturday, June 11, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial to follow at St. Frances Cemetery in Randolph, Nebraska. Vitiation will be held 4-8pm Friday, June 10, 2016 and family present from 6-8pm with vigil at 7pm at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave.

Romelda was born on April 9, 1930 in Randolph, Nebraska, the daughter of Lawrence and Laura (Neubauer) Rohloff. She graduated in 1948 from the Belden High School. On May 9, 1951 she was united in marriage to Donald Thompson. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Sioux City.

Romelda was a homemaker. She enjoyed dancing, growing flowers and watching birds. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Romelda was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Romelda is survived by her son, Jerry Thompson, her daughters Vicki (Wayne) Vala and Janice Thompson, all of Sioux City; 4 grandchildren, Mandi Thompson, Jason Frederick, Jake Thompson and Addison Thompson; 7 great grandchildren; and her sister, Pat (Bob) Grove of Marshalltown, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald in 2009, a grandson, Josh Thompson, 1 brother and 3 sisters.
