Obituary

Roland “Slim” Wayne Beintema, 83, of Sioux City, Iowa died Monday, May 10, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Roland services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Slim was born October 12, 1937 in Twin Brooks, South Dakota the son of Frank and Lakota Beintema. He graduated from Forestburg in 1955. Roland entered the Army in May of 1958 and served in the Infantry. In 1978 he continued his education and went to Business College.

In 1973 Slim married the Love of his life, along with her 7 kids. They made their home in Stone Park. In 1979, they acquired the Park Inn and had a great business and developed lots of friendships. 1982 Slim took a heavy equipment job in Fort Worth, Texas with a lifelong friend Bill Schulz, he worked for Circle C construction for 14 yrs then took job with M-Co construction and worked another 10 yrs.

In 2006 they moved backed to Sioux City, where he enjoyed working part time for Beano & Sherry’s Casino and did for 10 more years. He was known for his quick wit and good humor. Giving special nicknames to his grandkids along with cooking family dinners on weekends, with endless country music flowing filled his grandkids with endless memories. Baking birthday cakes and making pies was his favorite thing to do.

Survivors include his seven children, Terri (Merle) Pithan of Sioux City, June Ristau of Sioux City, Jeff Beintema and Anita of Fernley, Nevada, Roxanne Beintema of Fernley, Nevada, Brenda Watkins and Tracey of Boyd, Texas, Glen (Missy) Morey of Sioux City and Helen Moss of North Sioux City, South Dakota; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Velma (Louis) Tuecke of Garnaville, Iowa and a brother, Myron (Kyong) Beintema of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; sister, Karen Conner and two brothers, Milo and Darwin.
