Obituary

Roger Adam Yudka, 74 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away March 29, 2015 at the Veterans Affair Hospital in Minnesota.


Friends and Family are welcome to join us for a luncheon on 12:00 – noon Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Bob Roe’s Pointe After on Transit Avenue, Sioux City. Arrangements were under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue.

Roger was born October 14, 1940 in Sioux City to Adolph and Marie (DenHartog) Yudka. He graduated in 1958 from Bishop Heelen Catholic High School. He continued his education at Morningside College and then worked for the Sioux City Journal as a pressman before he enlisted in the Navy in 1962. He was honorably discharged in 1965 and moved to Minneapolis to work at the Star and Tribune. In the early 1970s he moved back to Sioux City to work with his brother at Mid American Floors. Later, he worked for some time at Nebraska Furniture Mart. Roger then worked construction, as a Master Tile Setter, which his job site was wherever needed across the nation.

In 1994, Roger was united in marriage to MariJo Greeny in Las Vegas, Nevada. Roger was an avid supporter of the American Legion and was a Union Member during his work period as a Master Tile Setter.

He was avid sports fan who enjoyed watching golf, with Phil Mickelson as his favorite golfer; and he followed the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Vikings, Boston Celtics and the Dodgers.


Roger is survived by wife MariJo; his daughter Misty (Eric) Fischer of Leigh, NE; brother Jerry (Patricia) Yudka of Sioux City, Iowa; sister Patricia Funkhouser of Spokane, WA; and 5 grandchildren, Seneca, Kimberly, Brady, Alex, and Alyssa; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Marie; brother Richard; and brother-in-law Rex Funkhouser.
