Roger Eugene Newcomb, 72, of South Sioux City, NE, passed away surrounded by his family on March 24, 2025. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 28 at 1:00 p.m. at River Hills Church in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7:00 p.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Roger was born on July 31, 1952, in Sioux City, Iowa to Charles Sr. and Lillian (Coddington) Newcomb. He married Wendy Peterson on May 15, 1971, in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple lived in Nebraska, Kansas and Florida during their marriage. While in Florida, Roger worked in Orlando as a diesel mechanic and was proud that he got to work on Disney buses and million-dollar motor homes.
He was so efficient at getting work done that his co-workers called him “Rabbit”. Roger was a hard worker, often working all day then come home to work on cars and various projects in the garage. He had many collections, including trains, hot sauces, and flashlights.
He was a former member of the Sioux City Train Club, and in recent years donated to their collection. He enjoyed watching and collecting NASCAR memorabilia. Roger was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to play, joke, and tease his family. He will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy Newcomb; children: Angela (Scott) Holland, Sandy (Chris) Hagen, Mike (Crystal) Newcomb; 16 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Guy Newcomb; sister, Elaine Davis; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers: Charles Jr. and David Newcomb.
