Rodger D. Fischer, 78, of Sioux City, IA, passed away June 20, 2025, at a local hospital. A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 26 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rodger was born on May 21, 1947, in Sioux City, IA to Walter and Lucille (Limback) Fischer. He enlisted into the United Stated Army in 1964 and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1967. Rodger met and married the love of his life, Sharon Thomas on January 4, 1969, in Sioux City. To this union, Dave and Dan were born. He began his career as a delivery driver for a local Texaco Bulk plant and retired as a foreman at Braungers. Rodger enjoyed tending to his flowers, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a very proud Father, Grandpa and Great Grandpa.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 56 years, Sharon Fischer; sons: Dave (Missie) and Dan Fischer (Melissa Steward); grandkids: Ty (Hannah) Coby (Caetlyn), and Aidan Fischer, Skyler and Hunter Sharp; great-granddaughters, Drew Fischer and Oaklynn Sharp and great-grandson, Aspen Sharp. A sister, Judy Johnson and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Laekyn Fischer; and siblings: Raymond, Ronnie, John, and Allana.
