Robert "Bob" W. Gries Sr., 71, of Sioux City, IA, passed away March 21, 2024 at a local hospital.  Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Bob was born on May 17, 1952 in Ponca, NE to Harry and Lorna (Diediker) Gries.  He graduated from Kingsley-Pierson High School and went on to attend college at WITCC.  He was united in marriage to Marlene Seely on September 11, 1976 in Akron, IA.  Bob worked for the City of Sioux City for many years before retiring.  He enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing pool and reading Western novels.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Marlene Gries; children: Shari (Gary) Evans-Murphy, Robert Jr. (Stephanie) Gries; grandchildren: Trenton and Karsyn Evans-Murphy, JJ Strain, Elise Evans-Murphy, Cadence Strain; siblings: Janet (Carl) Toben, Glenda Easton, Becky (Jess) Blum, Beth Ann (Paul) Orr, Jim Gries, Tom Gries, Terry (Virginia) Gries ; sister and brother-in-laws: Marsha McGraw, Myron (Michelle) Seely; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; step-mom, Phyllis; sister and brother-in-laws: Darrell Easton, Janice Gries, Marjean Gries, and Roger McGraw, sister, Lora Gries; and parents-in-law: Eldon and Alma Seely.
