Robert Eugene Meier, 94, of South Sioux City, NE, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Robert was born on March 25, 1922 in Correctionville, Iowa, to Arthur Murray and Marie (Sweezy) Meier. He enlisted into the US Navy in June of 1944 and was honorably discharged in 1946. Robert married Dorothy Denind on September 23, 1950.

Robert worked at Johnson Biscuit Company for many years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Hunting, fishing, and watching sports were some of his favorite pastimes.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of South Sioux City; children, Linda (Robert) McDaniel of South Sioux City, Susan (Mark Jr.) Tighe of Sioux City, and Randy (Lisa) of Colorado; siblings, Genevieve, Marvin, Everet, Shirley, Marlene, and Lois; and grandchildren, Allison, Matthew, Courtney, Melissa, and Joshua.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert; and siblings, Helen, Mary Jane, and Alvin.
