Robert John McKeever Jr., age 89, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on June 11, 2026. Born on May 5, 1937, in Sioux City, Iowa, Bob was the beloved son of Robert John McKeever Sr. and Florence Eleanor McKeever. Above all else, Bob loved his family.

On January 30, 1976, he married Coleen McKeever, the love of his life and best friend. Together they shared more than 50 years of love, laughter, and partnership while raising seven children and building a family that was the center of Bob's world. Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who took immense pride in his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Coleen McKeever; his children, Mike and Teresa McKeever, Tammy and Loren Steecker, Chuck and Ruth Ann McKeever, Pat and Bobbie McKeever; Brad McKeever, Valerie McKeever, and Gene McKeever; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; his sister, Beverly Yates; and his brother, Russell McKeever.

Bob dedicated more than 50 years of his life to the construction industry, working as a Master Carpenter and Construction Superintendent for Chris Hansen Construction. He was respected for his craftsmanship, leadership, and unwavering work ethic. Throughout his career, he helped shape the Sioux City community through the many commercial construction projects he supervised and built. He took great pride in his work and earned the admiration and respect of coworkers, clients, and friends alike.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Bob's love of competition and camaraderie remained with him throughout his life. As a young man in his twenties, he was a promising Golden Gloves boxing contender, known for his determination and athletic ability. His passion for sports extended far beyond the boxing ring. He loved playing basketball, volleyball, and softball, remaining active and competitive well into his late sixties.

Bob was also an avid fan who rarely missed the opportunity to enjoy a game. He especially loved fantasy football and looked forward to attending Sioux City Explorers baseball games with his friends. Whether participating in sports himself or cheering from the stands, athletics brought him great joy and lifelong friendships.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert John McKeever Sr. and Florence Eleanor McKeever, and his brothers, Gary McKeever, Richard "Dick" McKeever, and Patrick McKeever.

Those who knew Bob will remember his warm heart, competitive spirit, unwavering work ethic, and devotion to family. He was a man who valued hard work, friendship, and time spent with those he loved. His greatest legacy is the family he cherished, the example he set, and the countless memories he created over a life well lived.

In the final weeks of his life, Bob's hearing had become severely impaired, and much of his communication with family took place through text messages. Through those conversations, he reflected on the blessings of his life, the love of his family, and the faith that brought him comfort. The following message, sent to his son Mike, is shared exactly as he wrote it:

"Mike, I got your card today. You are the most thoughtful person that I can ever imagine. You sent that money at a perfect time. Our little tin box was getting a little low. You just don't know how much that helps us. I'm glad that you think that I've been a good dad. All of my kids have turned out to be good people. I enjoy following all my Grandkids progress too. That's because all you kids raise your kids with love. That's what makes this world go around. Tell Teresa that I really appreciate the way she has backed you the way she has. I couldn't have asked God for a better life. Also, I have a very loving wife that takes good care of me in my old age. She's tougher than nails. And one other thing, I had great parents while I was growing up. That really helps too.

Love everybody down there,

Dad."
