Robert H. Lau, 80 of Salix, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Services will be held 10:00 Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Community United Methodist Church, in Sergeant Bluff, IA. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by the United States Navy, and VFW Post 662. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.
Robert Harry Lau was born October 1, 1938 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Harry and Florence “Pat” (Tucker) Lau. He went to School and graduated from Luton, High School in 1957. Robert enlisted in the Navy in October of 1955 and Served Active duty on the USS Bon Homme Richard. On November 12, 1960 Robert married Carolyn Stinger and moved to Luton where they raised their family. He was a manager at Valero Energy Corporation until his retirement, August 19, 1992. Robert was a Nascar Fan and collected John Deere Tractors. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Sergeant Bluff.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn; his two sons, Monte Lau of Owasso, OK, Randy ( Shelle) Lau of LaVista, NE; three sisters, Bobbette (Marvin) Moreland of Sioux City, IA, Judy Erickson of Perry, KS, and Barbara (Richard) Mercer of Salix, IA; five grandchildren, Cory (Treola), Ashley (John), Zach, Austin, and Marissa; and two great grandchildren Kylee and Mack.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, William Lau.
