IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert "Bob"
Joseph Schager
September 28, 1963 – August 18, 2025
Robert "Bob" Joseph Schager, 61, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by his family on August 18, 2025. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.
Bob was born on September 28, 1963 in Sioux City, IA to Dale and Margaret (Moos) Schager, where he had great memories in the Morningside area with many friends growing up on S Cleveland St. Many people from this time knew him as "Little Bobby". He then married Lori Goldstein from Austin, TX whom he shared Jason and Lyndsey with. Later, he moved back to the Sioux City area and married again, having his daughter Tayla and gaining a step- son, Mark Sevier Jr. He was known for working at Crescent Electric and Knox Gelatin for many years. Bob lived in Ponca, NE to raise his two oldest kids, then moved to Tyndall and Springfield SD due to the beautiful scenery and great fishing spots.
Bob was paralyzed from his chest down for over 20 years from a motorcycle wreck on December 4, 2004 which led him back to Sioux City. He faced many challenges, but never gave up on being himself. Bob loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing. He could tell you where all the good spots were, and when to go.
If you were in the same room with Bob, chances are you were smiling and laughing. His sense of humor and wittiness is what took him to the end. Throughout the struggles he faced, he could always joke and make light of anything. He had a miniature wiener dog named Joey for 16 years and then his most recent "wiener", Archie. You would think those dogs were his human children. His kids and grandkids are what pushed him through and made him fight until he couldn't anymore.
Those left to honor his memory include his children and grandchildren: Jason (Christina) Schager; Olivia Fenton, Charlee & Logan Schager; Lyndsey Schager (Lloyd Wheat); Tayla Schager (Dylan Dwyer) & Caidan Gregg, Cash Schager, Henry & Millie Dwyer; siblings: Diana Hanna, Darla (Pat) McGrath, Dennis Schager , Dewey (Linda) Schager , Candace (Tony) Carey, Desiree Schager, and Matt (Alison) Hanna.
He is preceded in death by his parents; step-son, Mark Sevier Jr.; and many other friends and family.
