Robert E. “Bob” Jensen, 89 of Bronson, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2011 at a care facility in Elk Point, South Dakota.
Services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton. Burial will be at the Banner Township Cemetery near Lawton. Visitation 5-8 pm Tuesday with the family present at the church, with a Prayer Service at 7 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.
Robert Eugene Jensen was born on February 24, 1922 in Volin, South Dakota, the son of Peter and Annie (Christensen) Jensen. Bob graduated from the Bronson High School in 1941.
On April 3, 1948, Bob was united in marriage to Ruth Greek in South Sioux City. They worked at Cudahey's Packing until March of 1950, when they moved to their farm near Bronson. He farmed until his retirement in 1986. Bob enjoyed playing card games and cribbage with family and friends.
Bob was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church. Bob will be remembered by his grandchildren for apple picking, lawn mower rides, his candy drawer, and the best chocolate cake with fudge frosting and chocolate malts ever.
Bob is survived by his wife Ruth; 1 son, Pete Jensen and his wife Jann of Burbank, SD; 5 daughters, Barbara and her husband Larry Hinrichs of Lawton, Joyce and her husband John Evenson of McCook Lake, SD, Julie and her husband Dan Jay of Multon, IA, Cathy and her husband Rich Ries of Salem, SD and Carol and her husband Ron Finnegan of Newcastle, NE; 2 sisters, Marcia and her husband Gordon Young of Sioux City and Hazel and her husband Tom Ritter of Independence, OR; 24 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Opal Frazier and 1 grand daughter, Lara Hinrichs.
