Obituary

Robert L. “Bob” Hutchins, 58 of Sioux City, died Saturday, December 5, 2015 at a local hospital after fighting a nine month battle with lung cancer; Bob was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.

Bob’s wishes were to be cremated, and he did not want to have a large service. There will be a private celebration for the family in remembrance of Bob’s life. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Robert Lloyd Hutchins was born on March 26, 1957 in Sioux City, the son of Fred and Dorothy (Leriger) Hutchins. Bob graduated from East High School in 1975 and later attended college. Bob had been with his true love and soul mate, Debbie Yates for the last 25 years.

Bob hadn’t been employed for many years due to other health issues. Bob loved the animals that visited his yard. He loved to feed the birds and squirrels, even giving them names. He always enjoyed it when his favorite visitor could spend the night or weekend with him. He loved that dog “Gizzy."

Bob also enjoyed all the friends and people he came into contact with; he never met a stranger who didn’t become a friend.

One of Bob’s goals was to be baptized. On Bob’s last visit to the hospital 2 weeks ago, the hospital Chaplin baptized Bob. This brought happiness and peace for him for the rest of his time.

Bob is survived by his soul mate, Deborah Yates; his sister, Kathy Martin and her significant other, Dan Bauer; his brother, Dan (Cheryl) Hutchins; his nephew, Ron Hutchins and his great niece, Camyron Hutchins; his daughter, Stacey Yates and her significant other, Jim Ring, his grandson, Tyler (Deidre Owen) Ring, and his granddaughter, Breanna Ring; and in laws Bruce Hansen; Robert (Salama) Hahn; and Mark (Michele) Hahn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a niece Christina Newton and a nephew, Danny Hutchins.
