Robert L. Cogdill, 69, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 13, 2015 at Tri State Christian Church in South Sioux City, NE. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be at Onawa City Cemetery, in Onawa, IA.
Robert was born on June 10, 1945, in Onawa, IA, the son of Robert and Joyce (Taylor) Cogdill. He graduated from Onawa high school in 1963 and attended NBT college in Sioux City, graduating in 1965. He was in the 185th Air Force from January 1968 to 1971. Robert married Elaine Lindgren on March 16, 1979 in Sioux City.
Robert worked at T&W Tire from 1971-1992, then at Fremont Tire until retiring in 2007. He was a member of Tri State Christian Church and served as church treasurer for many years. Robert enjoyed doing woodwork, square dancing, feeding the birds and squirrels, and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Robert is survived by his wife, Elaine, sons: Loyd and his wife Kelly and Todd and his wife Barb, grandchildren: Cedric, Jessica, and Taylor Cogdill, all of Sioux City, and brother Earl and his wife Juli of Grand Junction, CO. Robert is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert's family would like to thank Countryside Estates especially The Haven, in Cherokee for their love and support during this difficult time. Memorials may be given in Robert's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
