Robert "Bob" Duane Ross

Robert Duane Ross, 89, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away surrounded by his family’s love on Christmas Day, 2025. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Bob was born June 26, 1936, in Wimbledon, North Dakota to Walter and Laura Ross. He married his best friend, Janet Beck, in 1958, and together they welcomed their cherished son, Scott.

He and Janet owned and operated Ross Service Station in Hinton, and he later devoted 29 years as a plant mechanic at MidAmerican Power Company. Bob was also a veteran of the Army National Guard. His work ethic was deeply admired by all.

Bob was known for his generosity, kindness, wit, and deep love for his family. He enjoyed gardening, working with his hands, driving tractors, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. They were the light of his life and his love for them will be remembered forever.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet Ross; his son, Scott (Linette) Ross; his grandchildren, Jeremy Ross and Jessica (Thad) Bowen; and his great-grandchildren, Maya Ross; and Casey, Chloe, and Codie Bowen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Laura Ross; his sister, Bebe; and his brothers, Chuck, Gary, and Bill (Alice).

A visitation will be held on January 2, beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., both at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sioux City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Siouxland Soup Kitchen.

Bob’s love and kindness touched all who knew him, and he will be sweetly remembered and deeply missed.
