Robert L. “Bob” Lewis, 84, of Sergeant Bluff, IA, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Bob’s life was defined by devotion—to his wife, his family, and his community. He shared 65 wonderful years with the love of his life, Mary, building a home rooted in loyalty, laughter, and faith. Together, they raised two sons, whom Bob guided with passion, patience, and a strong sense of right and wrong—lessons that will live on for generations.
Bob was a proud and playful grandfather who loved his grandchildren with his whole heart. Whether teaching, teasing, or simply spending time together, he made each of them feel deeply known and cherished. Becoming a great-grandfather brought him special joy, and his legacy continues through them.
Born on September 17, 1941, in Sioux City, Bob was the son of William and Blanche (Pinney) Lewis. He graduated from East High School in 1960 and was united in marriage to Mary Stewart on June 23, 1962.
Bob worked at Sioux City Dressed Beef and later at Cimmarina. He was also a co-owner of Sergeant Bluff Bowl and the East Side Dairy Queen. He retired in 2001, leaving behind a reputation as a hard worker and fair businessman.
Well known in the community, Bob was a member of the Sioux City Stroller Club and a passionate car enthusiast. He also gave back as a bowling coach, mentoring and encouraging bowlers throughout the area—many of whom remember him as much for his kindness as for his skill.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; sons Daniel (Karen) Lewis and Ric (Barb) Lewis; grandchildren: Zac(Jessica), Justin(Katie), Brittany(Brittany), Keaton(Kaley), and Brenden; great-grandson, Kash; and a great-granddaughter, Kylie, due any day.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Rhinehart Lewis; and his sister, Barbara Bobier.
Bob will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, loyal friend, and a man who quietly made his community better simply by being part of it.
