Robert J. "BJ" Vanlaningham, 48, of Sioux City, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. A visitation will begin one hour prior to service time at the funeral home on Thursday.

BJ was born on September 28, 1972 in Sioux City and attended West High School. He worked as a towerhand, building communication towers for twenty-eight years. Traveling for work, BJ met Shontelle Walker, together they were married on May 14, 2011 in Virginia.

BJ attended Lighthouse Worship Center in Virginia. He was an avid Yankee Baseball fan, collecting memorabilia over the years. BJ enjoyed grilling out and riding his Harley.

Survivors include his wife, Shontelle Vanlaningham of Gloucester,0Virginia; father, Dennis (Barbara) Hageman; mother, Virginia (Tom) Martinez, both of Sioux City; brothers, Phil Hageman of Sioux City, Steve (Cherie) Vanlaningham of South Sioux City, Dennis (Carrie) Hageman Jr. of Florida, and Shane (Gina) Tackett of LeMars; sisters, Kay (Shane) Monk of Missouri, Megan (Chris) Hansen of Sioux City, Brandi (Tony) Beller of Sioux City, and Trisha Martinez of Ponca, NE.; and his beloved pug, Mia
