Robert “Bob” Allan Decker Sr.
October 8, 1949-February 17, 2025
Robert Allan Decker Sr. loved fast cars and one woman his entire existence. He was born in Sioux City, IA on October 8, 1949, to Robert and Madonna Decker (Hove). He ran his last quarter mile surrounded by his loving family at UNMC in Omaha, NE on February 17, 2025. Bob grew up in New York where he met his truest love and high school sweetheart, Lynne Baisley. They were wed on September 4, 1971. From this union two beautiful children were born, Christina “Chris” and Robert “Rob”. Bob loved spending weekends at the pool for his future state champion son, and just as equally enjoyed watching his daughter perform ballet in the Nutcracker.
Bob was a volunteer firefighter in Monsey, NY and was a legend in the firehouse. Bob was admired greatly for his ability to turn the fire rig on a dime. He loved those he served with. Bob and Lynne relocated to South Sioux City, NE where he spent the next 25 years working at W.A. Klinger. Anyone who knew Bob knew he was a walking encyclopedia of classic cars. He was a gifted mechanic and a master carpenter. Bob could do anything with his brilliant mind and hands. In his later years you could always find him working on projects with his son-in-law and side kick, Chuck. Bob’s life was giving to others, loving his wife, children, grandchildren, and living by his motto: “Measure twice, cut once”. So applicable in every scenario.
Bob was met in eternal rest by his mother, Madonna and stepfather Harlan Hove (Poppy), his father, Robert, and the cold noses of Tinker, Lexie, Toby, Rex, Molly, and Butters. That man loved his dogs! Left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy are his loving wife, Lynne. His children Chris and Chuck Jorgensen of Sioux City, IA with grandchildren Nicholas and Allison. Rob and Tara Decker of Bellevue, NE with grandchildren McKenna, Caleb, and Zachary. Bob was bigger than life and loved everyone around him. He will always be remembered with love and laughter. Rest Easy Bob-O, we got the wheel from here.
