Rita Darlene Miller, 67, of South Sioux City, NE, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, August 31, 2015 at her residence with her children and sisters by her side. A celebration of Life will be 11:00 am, Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Bethany Lutheran Church of Sioux City with Pastor Gerry Bruhn officiating. A visitation will be Friday, September 4, 2015 from 6pm to 8pm at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Rita was born on December 14, 1947 in Sioux City, the daughter of Fred and Hazel (Honeywell) Rich. Rita was united in marriage to Richard Leroy Miller on October 31, 1970. He passed away on June 15, 2015.
Rita worked as an assistant manager at Hardees and later at HyVee in the deli. She enjoyed crocheting, helping others, and most of all spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Rita was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, she was also a senior companion in Siouxland, and a certified spiritual Counselor.
Survivors include her son: Ronnie (Christi Sachau) Miller of Sioux City; daughter Rana (Carry) Shilling of Sioux City ; Sisters: Shirley (Mark) Christiansen of Onawa, Betty Bobier and Loretta (Terry) Blue both of South Sioux City, sister in law: Sandra Miller of South Sioux City, brother in law Roger Sandau of Council Bluffs; grandchildren: Andrew, Abbie, Michael, Kaylee, Anna, Ethan, and Timmy.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Harold Rich, and two sister in laws Sherry Widner and Christine Sandau.
