Richard I. Wynn, 94, of North Sioux City, SD, passed away surrounded by his family on February 17, 2026. A private service will be held at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Richard was born in Sioux City, Iowa, to Cleve and Louise Wynn. He grew up in rural South Dakota, where he learned the value of hard work, family, and perseverance—qualities that would define his life. On March 25, 1950, he married the love of his life, Jean Claudette Frazee, in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Together they shared 75 blissful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, laughter, and devotion to their family.
Richard and Jean were blessed with nine children—eight daughters and one son: Susan; Sally (Mike); Cindy (Glenn); Diana (Clay); Eva (Mitch); Mindy (John); Jenni (Danny); Sarah (Jeremy); and Richard Jr. (Leesa). He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather to many, each of whom brought him tremendous joy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Russell, Virgil, Jency, Bernice, Inez, Elsie, Loretta, Vivian, Cleve, Dale, Arthur, and Orville.
Richard worked as a mechanic for most of his life, a trade he took great pride in. He retired in 1992 after 31 dedicated years with the City of Sioux City. He was known for his strong work ethic and his ability to fix just about anything. In his free time, Richard enjoyed playing horseshoes, going to the casino, watching westerns and playing cards and dice. More than anything, he cherished time spent with his beloved wife Jean and his family. He was a wonderful husband, a devoted father, and a proud grandpa who will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
His legacy of love, strength, and dedication lives on in the family he so dearly treasured.
