Richard A. Thompson, 59 of South Sioux City, Nebraska passed away Friday, May 5, 2023 at a local hospital, surrounded by his family. Services will be held 10:00am Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Cathedral of Epiphany Catholic Church, Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7pm Friday, May 12, 2023 at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.

Richard was born February 6, 1964 in Madison, South Dakota to Richard and Charmaine (Slater) Thompson. They moved to North Sioux City, South Dakota and graduated from Jefferson High School. Richard married Kristine Andersen and together they made their home in Sioux City, Iowa. Kristine passed away on March 4, 2004. In 2007 he met Veronica Cuevas and they made their home in South Sioux City, Nebraska.

Over the years Ricardo would work for Smithfield Foods. He was a very active person. Ricardo would be working in the yard, or on the house, and occasionally he would work on the car. He loved to spend time with his family.

Ricardo is survived by his life partner, Veronica Cuevas, daughter, Katie Thompson, two sons, Eric Thompson, and Daniel Cuevas, sister, JoAnn (Joe) Rodriguez, two brothers, Joe Thompson and Ed (Wendy) Thompson, several sisters and brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Brian Andersen, brother, George Thompson, and father-in-law, Francisco Topete.
