Richard J. “Dick” Kuhlers, 83 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away peacefully on Monday, May 16, 2022 after a lengthy illness, with his family by his side. Graveside services will be held 1:00pm Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Dick was born July 6, 1938 in Belmond, IA the son of Herman and Rena (Schmidt) Kuhlers. He was raised on his family farm outside of Meservey, IA. In 1956 Dick graduated from Belmond High School. Dick continued his education at Northwestern College in Orange City, IA.

Richard married Joanne Kranz in 1961 in Sioux City, IA, at the Grace Baptist Church. In this union they had four children. They moved to Texas in 1981 and returned to Sioux City, IA after his retirement in 2005.

Dick is survived by his wife, Joanne of Sioux City, four children, Cory (Diana) Kuhlers of Bedford, TX, Darla Lecher of Fort Collins, Co, Brenda Chaffin of Sioux City, Rick Kuhlers of Sioux City, 6 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Aileen Moss and brother-in-law, Albert Moss.
