Richard L. Ellis, 66, of Sioux City, went to see his heavenly Father on Friday, February 1, 2013 at his residence. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Tess Panamarow officiating. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5-8 pm with family present from 6-8 and a prayer service at 7 pm at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.

Richard was born October 7, 1946 in Humboldt, South Dakota to Frank and Lois (Harden) Ellis. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 1964 where he lettered in baseball, football and track. Richard married Patricia Custer on April 26, 1968. He worked in the Bomgaars warehouse and for the Boys Club Bingo as the manager. Richard was a big coffee drinker, and was an avid sports fan, and especially loved to watch stockcar races.

Survivors include his wife Patricia, sons Allan and his wife Nancy of Arizona, and Ricky of Sioux City, daughter Lisa Ramirez of Sioux City, brother Howard and his wife Betty of Colton, South Dakota, seven grandchildren: Tyler, Skylar, Taylor, Mauricio, Lindsey, Araceli, and Chloe, and his dog, Baby.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, paternal grandparents Art and Carrie Ellis, and maternal grandparents Herbert and Louise Harden.
