Rhonda Kay Van Beek, 56, of Westfield, Iowa, passed away peacefully, in her sleep on Monday, May 19, 2014, following a four year battle of colon cancer. Private family services have already been held. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.

Rhonda was born on August 12, 1957 in Calumet, Iowa, daughter of Karen Hurtig and granddaughter of Clara Jones. She graduated from Sutherland High School. Rhonda married Roger Van Beek on October 2, 1976. Together they lived in Sioux City, before moving to Westfield for the last 25 years.

Rhonda worked at Wells Dairy for 21and a half years. She enjoyed sitting on her deck watching hummingbirds, visiting her many elderly friends, working out, weightlifting, home improvement projects, motorcycle riding, and spending time with her kids, grandkids, husband, and extended family.

Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Roger Van Beek, children: Amanda and Chad Olson of Orange City, Justin Van Beek and Megan Kestel of Omaha, and three grandchildren: Adessa Olson, Kyler McVay, and Sydnee Olson.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her son: Russell Van Beek, Mother: Karen Hurtig, sisters-in-law: Shari Van Beek and Joy Van Beek, mother-in-law: Gertrude Van Beek, father-in-law: Henry Van Beek, and Grandma Clara Jones.

Rhonda died the same way she lived, surrounded by her close friends, family, and loved ones.
