Renee L. (Clay) Crippen, 65 of North Sioux City, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017.

Services will be held 10 am Saturday, June 10th at the Realife Assembly of God, 305 S. Derby Lane, North Sioux City, with Rev. Sarah Banks officiating. Burial will be in McCook Cemetery. Visitation begins 9 am Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.

Renee Lee (Clay) Crippen was born on September 5, 1951 in Sioux City, the daughter of Carol Lee Frye and Orville Frye of North Sioux City, S.D. She graduated with Honors from Riverside High School in 1970. In 1970, she was married to Gene Crippen. They later divorced in 1995. She was a Home Health Nurse for 35 years and retired in 2007. She loved her two children and two grandchildren, unconditionally.

She loved cooking, cleaning, dancing, live entertainment, going for rides, watching the Golden Girls, shopping and being with her dog, Nyla Renee.

She cared for her brothers and sister as if they were her own children.

Survivors include Kevin (Jodi) Crippen of Sioux City, Melissa (Marianne) Crippen of North Sioux City; two grandchildren, Taylor Renee Crippen and Lanie Marie Crippen; 3 brothers, Ellis “Huck” (Gina) Frye of Sioux City, Ernest “Ernie” Frye of North Sioux City and Eugene “Hector” Frye of Sioux City; 1 sister, Ramona Plantenberg of North Sioux City; lots of nieces and nephews, cousins and one uncle, Jim Clay and his children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and several aunts and uncles. A special thanks to Hector for taking care of her.
