Raymond "Mike" Michael Sanders Jr.

Raymond “Mike” Sanders Jr., 65, of Sioux City, IA, passed away surrounded by his family on May 20, 2026. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 29, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Avenue. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Mike was born on November 28, 1960 in San Diego, CA to Raymond Sr. and Lois (White) Saunders. The family moved to South Sioux City, NE when Mike was young. Mike spent his young years doing what he loved most, traveling with his horses around the Midwest.

He was united in marriage to Deborah Lake and they spent 32 years together, where they raised their only child Casey Sanders. Mike held a variety of positions throughout his life including Smurfit-Stone and Interbake Foods.

Mike liked all types of sports, especially Nebraska Cornhusker football, stock car races, and horse racing. But most importantly, Mike loved being with family and friends.

Those left to honor his memory include his son, Casey Sanders (Katelyn Bock); father, Raymond Sr.; brothers: Keith (Shelly Munsen), Pat (Tracy Wecker); and his sister, Jill (Chad) Johns.

He is preceded in death by his mom, Lois; sister, Sheryl Manchester; brother, Brian Sanders; his grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
