Obituary

Raymond Leo Draube, age 75, of Sioux City died unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday October 12, 2011.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday October 15, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sioux City with Rev. Kenny Hsu officiating. A private family interment will take place prior to the service on Saturday at Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8pm with the family present from 6-8pm and a prayer service conducted at 7:00pm at the church. Waterbury Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Raymond was born on December 17, 1935 in Madison County Nebraska the son of William and Mary (Klug) Draube. He attended and graduated from Norfolk Public Schools. Upon his graduation, he honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army serving in Germany for four years.
Raymond then moved to Sioux City and attended the NBT school of business for two years. Raymond then met the love of his life Carol Koehler and the two were united in marriage on June 16, 1963 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bancroft, Nebraska.
Raymond worked as the office manager for Souders Motors for five years, then began a career as the office manager for Sioux Honey Association that lasted more than 25 years retiring from that position in 2005.
Raymond was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he served in several capacities, including serving as an Elder, Church President, Church Treasurer and several other offices of the church. He also was an active member of the Church Choir. Raymond also served the youth of St. Paul’s by being an active member of the school PTL and also serving as a cub scout master for more than twenty years. Raymond also was active in the AAL for many years, where he served as a branch officer and was secretary-treasurer of the local chapter for a period of time. Raymond also was very active in the Cosmopolitan Club including being named 1980 International Cosmo of the year.
Raymond enjoyed his gardening, music, and spending time with his family and cherished the time he spent with his two grand-daughters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Carol, his three sons: Timothy, Scott and his wife Dawn of Sioux City and Todd of Omaha, Nebraska. His two granddaughters: Emma and Ashlyn, along with many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
The family requests that memorials in his name be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or St. Paul’s Lutheran School.
