Ramond J. Santi, 67, of Sioux City, passed away September 24, 2010, at home following a two year battle with cancer.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 28 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with burial following in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 27 with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the church. Online Condolences may be sent to waterburyfuneralservice,inc.com.
Ramond was born September 25, 1942, in Madrid, Iowa, the son of John and Catherine Santi. He attended school at Sheldahl, Iowa and Madrid High School where he graduated in 1961. He then graduated from Buena Vista College in 1965.
He married Joyce E. Buckholz on September 6, 1964, at Storm Lake, Iowa. They had three sons, Jonathan, Jeffrey, and Jayson.
Ramond initially worked for Clark Cattle Company starting in 1965. He then went into the trucking business with Livestock Express, until he opened his own trucking business, Silver Creek Livestock Express in 1986. After selling the business in 2000, he worked for Guntren Trucking until 2010.
He was a long time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He served the church in many roles, most recently as an Elder of the Church, and previously on the Board of Education and the Board of Trustees. He served many years on the Board of the Lutheran Service Society. He also coached Boys Basketball for the church for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joyce, two sons Jeffrey (Lora) of Charleston, S.C., Jayson (Karla) of Sioux Falls, S.D.; five grandchildren, Madison, Ethan, and Maren from Charleston, S.C., and Jakson and Kamryn from Sioux Falls, S.D.; two brothers, Ronald (Kay) of Hot Spring Village, AR., and Richard (Carolyn) of West Des Moines, Iowa and one sister Kathy (John) Monroe of Indianola, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son Jon.
The family extends a special Thank You to Linda, Michelle, Heather, and the rest of the team from Hospice of Siouxland for the special care that Ramond received.
