Ramona Mildred Frazier, 81, of Sioux City, Iowa entered the spirit world on August 9, 2011, after a brief illness at her residence surrounded by loved ones.
A wake will be held on August 10, 2011 at 1123 W. 4th Street in Sioux City, beginning at 8 PM.
A two night wake with visitation, will be held on August 11th and 12th, 2011, at the Oyate Oyanke Center in Santee, NE.
Funeral service will be Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 2:00 PM, at the Oyate Oyanke Center in Santee, NE.
Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.
She was born August 18, 1929, in Rosebud, SD to Mildred and Earlwin Frazier. She was the second of eight siblings.
She grew up and attended school in Niobrara, NE. She resided in Los Angeles, CA for 12 years, where she graduated from nursing school. She returned to Sioux City in 1969 where she continued her nursing career.
She loved spending time with family and friends and participating in traditional ceremonies. She enjoyed playing video games, reading Western novels, and in her free time, she liked to try her luck at the slot machines.
She was a Santee Sioux elder, who was loved and respected by everyone.
Ramona is survived by daughters Margaret (Peggy) Frazier, Carol and Alan Starr; sons Tracy Fields and Connie, and Jeremiah Frazier; fourteen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Mary and Jim Cassens, Audrey Denney, and Cheryl and Gary Derby; brother Art Denney; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son Robert Frazier; her mother and father; 3 sisters; and 1 brother.
