Phyllis Colleen Chase, 84, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home. Services will be held 10:00 am Friday, September 12, 2014 at Riverzedge Church. Visitation will be held from 6-8 Thursday, September 11, 2014 at the Church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.

Colleen was born February 8, 1930 in Macedonia, Iowa, the daughter of Lee and Aretta Houser. She was raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa where she attended Iowa School for the Deaf. Colleen married Burton Chase, Sr. on October 4, 1955 in Luverne, MN. They made their home in Sioux City, Iowa.

Colleen loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed camping, crocheting quilts, scrapbooking, and documenting her family history.

She is survived by her four sons and three daughters Robert (Patsy) Hitabidel, David (Fran) Hiltabidel both of Council Bluffs, IA, Barbara (Jim) Melvin of Rapid City, SD, Burton Jr. (Kathy) Chase of Sioux City, Carol Garnett of Sioux City, Ron (Randy Donner) Chase of Omaha, NE, and Lola (Jerry) Slater of Sioux City. Her 22 grandkids and 33 great grandkids, two sisters Mary Donaldson and special friend Craig, Rose Baker, brother Bill (Diane) Houser and brother-in-law Earl Loftus, very special friends Larry and Shirley Sprengs and many more.

She is preceded in death by her husband Burton Chase, Sr., her parents Lee and Aretta Houser, two brothers Homer Houser and Bob Houser, her sister Lola Loftus, her two sons Jon Hiltabidel and Howard Chase, and her two daughters Jackie Hiltabidel and Maxine Fernandez Amland.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons Aaron Gries, Burton Chase III, Jeremiah Chase, Chris Chase, David Lalumendre Jr., Randy Amland, and La Fay Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be her great grandsons.
