Philip A. Brekke, 62, of Sioux City, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 4:00 pm, Friday, January 20, 2017 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, officiated by Rev. Jeremiah Rice of Henning, MN.

Phil was born on March 13, 1954 in Sioux City, to Chris Brekke and Johanna Brekke. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. Phil has worked at Mercy Medical Center, MCI and Walmart. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Phil had a great sense of humor and would bring smiles to all he met.

During his journey with cancer, he was always strong in his faith, knowing he would be going home to God.

Survivors include his two sisters, Joyce McBride and her husband Bernie of Smithland, IA and Diane Probst and her significant other Rick Dobbs of Sioux City; one brother, Arlen Brekke of Phoenix, AZ; 8 nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews; special friends, Vicky Adolphson, Joy Pearson, Vicky Puente; and his special daughter by heart, Alani Grosvenor.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents.
