Pete James Griffin, 87, of North Sioux City, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 at a Sioux City hospital. Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 pm, Friday, November 18, 2016 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Pete was born on February 21, 1929 in Garret, Kentucky, the son of Mike and Nola (Prather) Griffin. Pete grew up in West Virginia, moved to Chicago in his early 20's and became a truck driver. In 1975 he moved to Sioux City, where he met LaVonne in 1976, and they have been together ever since.

Pete worked as a truck driver for over 50 years for numerous companies. He and LaVonne were a driving team for 15 years, and they got to see 48 of the 50 states together. He was happiest when he was in his truck. Pete enjoyed fishing, telling stories, going to casinos, and spending time with his family. No one he met was a stranger for long; he truly had the gift of gab.

Survivors include his wife, LaVonne of North Sioux City; children, Steve (Shannon) Griffin, Vicki (Doyle) Grimes, both of Alabama, Craig Martin of Sioux City, and Kim Martin of Elk Point; three sisters; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
