Penny “Slater” Listman, age 62, of Canton, South Dakota formerly of Sioux City passed away on Monday August 11, 2014 at a Sioux Falls hospital.

Penny was born on May 30, 1952 in Sioux City, the daughter of Sidney and Orcellia (Welchel) Slater. She graduated from Central High School in 1970, and then entered military service as a WAVE with the Navy. She was stationed at many locations, including in Italy, Hawaii and Louisiana. While in Louisiana, she was united in marriage to Ronald Listman in 1991in New Orleans. Her last assignment was being stationed in Sioux Falls until her discharge in 2012.

Penny is survived by her husband Ronald; her daughter Stacy Steele of Charleston, South Carolina and her grand-daughter Grace; three step-children, Jessica Wycoff of San Jose, California, Micah King of Columbus Junction, Iowa and Tiffany Warnstaff of Muscatine, Iowa, five step-grandchildren, Ethan, Zach, Andrew, Celia and Trinity; and one brother, Scott Slater of Stafford, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Don Slater.
