Peggy Joyce Vansickle, 87, of San Diego, California, passed away surrounded by her family on September 26, 2024 at Pioneer Valley nursing home in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.  Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of her life with burial at Ft. Rosencrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California on November 22, 2024 at 11:30 am.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.

Peggy was born on September 29, 1936 in East Prairie, Missouri to Jack and Louise (Simpkins) Zook.  She graduated from Wilson High School in Wilson, AR with the class of 1954 and then attended Arkansas State University.  Peggy relocated to San Diego, CA in 1959.   She was united in marriage to Jim Morrison in 1961 and to this union they had two children, Jennifer and Jeff.  She later married the love of her life, Bill Vansickle.  Peggy lived in San Diego for over 60 years before coming to Iowa to stay with her daughter.  She worked for United Airlines in reservations for 30 years.  She enjoyed traveling the world.  She was a member of the Faith Presbyterian Church of San Diego, CA where she also served as a deacon.  After her retirement, she served as a volunteer in the gift shops at Kaiser Permanente and Sharp Grossmont Hospital.  She enjoyed cruising, traveling the world and camping.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Jennifer (Steve) Corey of Salix, Iowa and Jeff Morrison of Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren: Cassidy (Michael) Carmody and Shea (Kelsey) Corey; great-grandson, Kaden, a brother, Bill Zook of Surprise, AZ, special friend Ivan Pedersen of San Diego and Debbie Welchko, Pinetop, AZ.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Bill Van Sickle.
