Peggy Sue McCabe, 77, passed away Sunday April 9, 2023, at Oakland Heights Nursing home in Oakland, Nebraska. Celebration of Life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, April 14 at Waterbury Funeral Service, 4125 Orleans Avenue, Sioux City, Iowa. Burial will be at a later date in Hawarden, Iowa.

Peggy Sue was born Monday, August 27, 1945, in Hawarden, Iowa to Glenn and Bernice (Richmond) Carpenter. She was raised on a farm her whole life until her parents moved to town in 1962. Peggy graduated from West Sioux High School in Hawarden in 1964. She then moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she worked as a CNA. She moved back to the Sioux City area where she worked at Zenith Electronics, Goodwill and sold Avon for many years in the Leeds area.

She married Donald McCabe Jr. in 2005. They spent over 40 years together. Peggy loved Johnny Cash music. She knitted scarves and hats for a home in Eastern Iowa and also knitted potholders and dollies for others. Donnie and Peggy Sue loved car rides and would travel to many different places. She loved to spend time with her family.

Peggy Sue is survived by her sister Leota (James) Carpenter Swanson; her brothers Eugene (Delores) Carpenter and Leland (Helena) Carpenter and many nieces and nephews.

Peggy Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Donald McCabe Jr.; her children, Jason and Denise; her parents; and her grandparents.
