Pearl Mary Kilzer, 72, of Sioux City, IA, passed away September 21, 2026. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pearl was born on October 5, 1953 in Carroll, IA to Leo and Bernice (Riesberg) Schroeder. She graduated from Anthon-Oto High School in 1971 and went on to receive her nursing degree from Western Iowa Tech. She worked as a LPN for St, Luke’s and a Sergeant Bluff Clinic. Pearl was united in marriage to Charles Kilzer on October 21, 1972 in Oto, IA. The couple made Sioux City their home and raised two sons; Jeff and Jason. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, camping, sewing, and crocheting blankets for her grandchildren.
Her greatest joy was her family, especially watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. She loved being in the stands, cheering them on every chance she got. You never had to wonder if she was there—you could always hear her voice coming from the bleachers, proudly cheering for the kids she loved so much. Those games weren’t just something she attended; they were some of her happiest moments.
Those left to honor her memory include her two sons: Jeff (Mary) Kilzer of Sioux City, IA and Jason (Becca) Kilzer of Sioux City, IA.; four grandchildren: Lacey Kern, Max Kilzer, Sam Kilzer and Lily Kilzer; three great grandchildren: Madison Kilzer, Laura Kern and Theodore Kern; siblings: Loren (Pam) Schroeder, Lyle (Tacha) Schroeder, Patrick (Trisha) Schroeder, Joyce Traver, Carol Rogers; and sister-in-law, Lori (Alan Bushman) Schroeder.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Lee Schroeder; and sister, Sue Kulver.
