Pauline "Pat" Avila, 74, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
Pat was born on July 13, 1941 in Tama County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Irene (Hand) Flowers. She graduated from Toledo High School in Toledo, IA in 1959. Pat married Lorenzo Avila on January 7, 2005 in Elk Point, SD.
Pat was a stay at home mother for most of her life, taking care of her own children and while also babysitting for others. She later worked for the Department of Human Services doing in-home child visits. Pat then became a certified nursing assistant and did home health care for many years.
Pat was a member of Nativity Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her pets, especially her dogs.
Survivors include her husband Lorenzo of Sioux City, children: Dawn (Larry) Larson of Sioux City, Denise (Tom) Calvert of Austin, TX, and David (Dawn) Dvorak of Sioux City, brother Alvin Flowers of Toledo, IA, sister Vaneta Hall of Council Bluffs, IA, ten grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
Pat was proceeded in death by her parents, daughter Debra Bradham, sisters Violet Benda and Darlene Brezina, and great grandson Jax Zook.
