Paul C. Engle, 95 of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa passed away Friday, February 10, 2023, at a local care facility, surrounded by his family. Funeral service will be held 10:30am Monday, February 20, 2023, at the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Paul was born on September 15, 1927, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of William and Lucille (O’Brien) Engle. Paul attended Trinity High School in Sioux City, Iowa, graduating in 1945. Later that year, he joined the United States Navy serving during the end of WWII and then as a reservist until his honorable discharge in 1951.
Paul was united in marriage to Dolores M. Gisch on November 24, 1947, in Livermore, Iowa. Together they raised six children. The family resided in Sioux City. They remained devoted to each other for 72 years, until her death in March 2020.
Paul was a long-time tile contractor. A tremendous craftsman, he was always honest and hard working. His professional handiwork exists throughout the city.
His life will be remembered by his daughters; Dawn Sleper (Sherm) of Omaha, NE., Deann Carpenter (John) of Denver, CO, sons Paul J. Engle (Cheryl) of Sioux City, IA, Brad Engle (Jean) of Sioux City, IA, Brian Engle (Teri) of Omaha, NE, and Bill Engle (Theresa) of Sergeant Bluff, IA., he is remembered as well by 23 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife, his parents; one sister, Joan Whelton (Jack) of Colorado Springs, CO, three brothers, Bill Engle (Bette) Kalispell, MT, Joseph Engle, Jefferson SD, and Bruce Engle (Donna) Sioux City.
Missed, remembered, and forever loved.
