Patrick Wayne “Pat” McKenna, 71 formerly of Salix, Iowa passed away at his home in Burbank, South Dakota on September 4, 2023.

Pat was born a twin on June 5, 1952; he was the seventh of ten children born to Edward John and Evelyn Lorene (Harmon) McKenna.

Pat’s formative years were spent on the family farm near Salix. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Salix, and later Westwood Community Schools graduating with the class of 1971. Pat was a Vietnam era veteran enlisting in the US Army in 1972 serving as a truck and diesel mechanic. His last overseas service was in Korea. Pat was honorably discharged in 1975 and was recently honored for his service in a private ceremony with family members present. Following discharge from the Army, Pat was employed at Northwest Iowa Telephone and later FiberComm. He retired in 2014.

Pat was an avid hunter and fisherman and was always seen with his faithful furry companion at his side. Per his wishes, Pat was cremated, and no formal service is planned. A family only celebration will be held at a later date.

Those left to honor his memory are his three brothers, Walt, Jim and Mike (his twin), and six sisters, Mary, Kathy, Jean, Joan, Jane and Judy.
