Obituary

Patricia "Patty" Graves, 64, of Sioux City, formerly of South Sioux City, Nebraska, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Patty was born on February 21, 1951, in Sioux City, the daughter of John E. "Jack" and Charlotte J. (Kennedy) Graves. She grew up in South Sioux City, Nebraska and graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1970. She became a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked at Holy Spirit Retirement Home for more than 20 years, retiring in 2014 when she became ill.

Patty married Carlos Wayne Springfield, Jr. on June 2, 1972 in South Sioux City, NE at St. Michaels Catholic Church. To this union, one daughter was born, Ann. They later divorced.

Patty enjoyed area singles events, including being a charter member of the Siouxland Singles Board which hosted singles dances in the Siouxland area from 1997 to 2009. She loved playing Bunco, dancing, attending concerts and comedy shows, and joining friends for Saturday morning breakfasts at the Glass Palace in North Sioux City, SD. Patty was a member of Sunnybrook Community Church and the Eagles Club. Patty was well known for being a friend to all.

Survivors include her daughter, Ann and her husband Bobby Kleve of Sioux City; a sister, Shirley and her husband , Bert Parks of Sioux City; and a brother , Terry and his wife Mary Helen Graves of Dakota Dunes, SD; several nieces and nephews; and many friends who will cherish her memory.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents.

Her family and friends would like to thank everyone at Holy Spirit Retirement Home and Hospice of Siouxland for the wonderful care they gave to Patty.
