Patricia A. (O'Connor) Simpson, 67, of South Sioux City, NE, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015 at a local hospital. Services will be held 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Sunnybrook Community Church with Rev. B.J. Van Kalsbeek officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-8 pm with family present from 6-8 and a prayer service at 6:30pm on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
Pat was born on October 3, 1948 in Sioux City, the daughter of Daniel and Virginia (Schmurr) O'Connor.
Pat graduated high school from Central High. Following high school, Pat got married and lived in many places while raising her family, while her husband served in the military. When she moved back to Sioux City, Pat worked as a social worker at Woodbury Community Action Agency and the Center for Siouxland. Later in life, Pat worked for HyVee and Goodwill.
Pat enjoyed going to rummage sales and flea markets, playing cribbage, and she was an avid reader. Pat worked hard her whole life to be able to enjoy the little things in life. Pat loved spending time with her family. Family wasn't just her own children, Pat took care of anyone who needed help, and enjoyed the companionship of her extended family.
Survivors include her children: Lester (Tina) Simpson of South Sioux City, Renie Simpson of Sioux City, Tiffany (Troy) Touney of South Sioux City, and Jamie (Brian McNaughton) Myers of Sioux City, brothers: Daniel O'Connor of CA, Donald (Debbie) O'Connor of Riverside Estates, SD, and James Nelson of Sioux City, sister Lori (Mark) Miller of AZ, and eleven grandchildren.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, sister Theresa O'Connor, and Betty Rose.
