Patricia “Pat” Mackie, 92, of Sioux City, IA, passed away December 4, 2023, at a local care center.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 7 at 12:00 p.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2915 Glenn Ave, Sioux City, Iowa. A luncheon will be held at the church following the burial at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pat was born on March 18, 1931, in Omaha, Nebraska to Tom and Dorris (Corn) Bockes. Pat attended Dechesne Academy of the Sacred Heart High School, Brownell Tabot College, then followed her sister Zanne Bockes to the University of Nebraska where she received her teaching degree. She pledged to the same Alpha PHI Sorority as her sister and future sister in-laws.
Pat was married to Dave Mackie on December 10, 1955. The were blessed with four children, Scott, Missy, Tom and John. The family moved to Sioux City in 1965.
Pat was an elementary teacher and later worked at Building Blocks Pre School.
Pat's hobbies included being with family, camping, traveling, and spending time in Okoboji, baking and reading.
Pat was involved in being the Past Queen of Daughters of the Nile, Eastern Star, Red Hat Ladies, involved in various groups of Westminster Presbyterian Church, and a loving and devoted wife of a Shriner of the Abu Bekr clowns and camper units. She was a loving, generous and caring grandmother and mom. Pat also loved helping others and volunteering.
Pat is survived by her two sons, Scott and John (Tim Lake) Mackie, favorite daughter, Missy (Don) Lindgren, her grandchildren, Josh, D.J. (Tina) Lindgren, Tiffany (Candas) Mackie, Jordin Hankins, her great grandchildren Brayden, Riley, Cooper, Joe, Teagan and Remmy and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dave, son, Tom Mackie, brother, Tom Bockes and sister, Zanne Bockes, her sister in-law, Dottie Sistek Johnson and other extended family and her loving dogs.
