Patricia A. Hanifan, age 93, of Sioux City passed away on Saturday September 7, 2013 at a local care facility.

Funeral services will be at 11:00am Monday September 16, 2013 at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff with Rev. David Zirpel officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Patricia was born on October 2, 1919 in Pipestone, Minnesota, the daughter of Arter and Effie (Schantz) Nichols. She moved to Sioux City at the age of 14 and had made Sioux City her home until her death.

She was united in marriage with Thomas E Hanifan in 1954, he preceded her in death June 22, 1985 in Sioux City.

She worked at various packing houses for a few years before working at the Cattleman’s Lounge for more than 30 years.

Patricia enjoyed golfing, bowling and was an avid card player. She loved St. Patrick’s Day and Sunflowers.

She will be missed by her family which includes her sons: Thomas B, Hanifan and his wife Jodie of Blue Jay, California, Mark D. Hanifan of Denver, Colorado, her daughters: Nancy Jo Maez and her husband Jim of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Terri Jean Ashlock and her significant other Jay Hamm of Sioux City, her step-son Michael C Hanifan and his wife Christine of Sioux City. She is also survived by her 22 grandchildren, her 36 great-grandchildren, and her two great-great grandchildren, and her special longtime friend Grace Westly, along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three daughters: Mary Ellen Perry, Patty Rae Schenzel, and Linda King, her grandson Jamie Maez, her sisters: Doris Dowdy, Lois and Ernest Cote, and a son-in-law Edwin Schenzel.
