Patricia E. "Patty" Coney, 70 of Sioux City, passed away Friday, July 8, 2011 at a local hospital.

A Prayer Service will be held 7 pm Wednesday, July13th at Waterbury Funeral Service with Rev. Paul Helmer officiating. Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.waterburyfuneralserviceinc.com.

Patty was born on July 22, 1940 in Sioux City, the daughter of James and Frances (Snyder) Freeman. She graduated in 1959 from Central High School in Sioux City.

Patty was united in marriage in 1961 to Robert J. Coney on February 11, 1961 in Pipestone, Minnesota. She worked for Watson Brothers Transportation and during the late 1970’s, she was with the women’s auxiliary helping to operate the gift shop at the Marion Health Center.

Patty enjoyed watching her sons driving their race cars and the time she spent with her grandchildren. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church.

Patty is survived by her husband, Robert; 4 sons, Bob (Jr.) and his wife Julie, Jim and Douglas, all of Sioux City, and John and his wife Chris of Carlisle, Iowa; 4 brothers, Jim Freeman of Oklahoma, Bob Freeman of Schaller, Iowa, Mike Freeman of Missouri and Billy Freeman of Sioux City; 4 grandchildren, Erin, Dylan, Bobby and Abby; and her longtime friend Maureen Norton of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
